Me, all the way to uiuc and half way through it. The show must go on.
So, it was not in my plan to get another tech degree. Any tech degree. let alone in IT.But the end I planned lead to this means. I had a vague plan in my head, and it usually always works out, like Jack Sparrow.

When I first met ML.

Then I could finally point out to what it is I really want to do.
But once upon a time, it all started like this:
Disney and working women in Hollywood movies:
Even as recent as the 90s, I didn't have many women working around me. In fact none I can remember except my teachers and my aunts who are both professors.
As with books, my mom also introduced me to Hollywood children's media
So I grew up, an alien in my own culture- a career girl and all that comes with it. My society wasn't ready. It still is not to a majority of the population in India and the world.
And probably the most important reason I take my profession seriously is because of my mom.
For my Mum. And her Mum:
She always told me, you must live by values and you must get the best education. "Every person you pass will have something valuable to teach. Learn one habit from each". (Which I aggressively adhered to). "And during tough times, stay calm and tell yourself- This will also pass". This one, I did not.
And she read to me a lot. Interviews of successful people , life lessons and moral stories. " I do not know much to teach you so I will read other people's lessons to you" She said.
And till this day, she browses through classifieds in newspapers looking for a job- She makes calls and must have heard ten-thousands of rejections in all these years. Because all she wanted was to be independent. A habit she stuck to for as long as I existed. She wanted to be a doctor. But my granddad wouldn't send her to a college where there were men, so she went to one where there weren't- Arts curriculum in a regional language.
My mum, was raised by a single mother and it was tough being a woman where and when she grew up. My mum struggled with chronic , worst of depression all her life until recently. She had no help. The others- we had no awareness. But she always made sure to match me and my sister in laughter, dancing, sports and hugs to this day. So does my grandma! We are a delight when together :)
My dad- sweet, shy and responsible, was living away from home for years, for work, for us. As did his father. This is all the world I knew. My mum, beautiful, strong , dreamy, hopeful and energetic. Always seeking knowledge. My baby sister, an angel. I am not sure if we are naturally curious or the need drove us to, but we are. For answers, for questions, for direction. We grabbed on to as much information as we could get access to, to survive life, which was mostly scary growing up. So a large part of our lives revolved around searching, searching, searching and looking for help. In every other way, we had a pretty chill and more than comfortable lives.
This is the training that makes me suitable for an information professional. And I owe it to the people who informed and inspired me all along , to do the right thing.
